The Dorian Singers – SInging Day

Felixstowe-based choir The Dorian Singers are excited to announce that on
Saturday 20 October they will be holding their first ever Singing Day, working on a
selection of choruses from Handel’s Messiah as well as favourite anthems
such as Mozart’s Ave verum corpus and Mendelssohn’s Hear my prayer.
Singing Day to be led by Alan Loader.

St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Old Felixstowe,
10am to approx. 4pm, finishing with an informal public performance at 3.15pm.
The cost for the day is £12 (free for under-18s), which includes refreshments and music hire.
Saturday 20th October

Participants are invited either to bring their own lunch, or eat at the White Horse public house
opposite the church, which has kindly agreed to offer a limited amount of off-road parking
for the duration of the event to participants who book a table there in advance.

Update 15/10/18
Just under a week before The Dorian Singers first-ever Singing Day and places are going fast.
As well as a selection of choruses from Handel’s Messiah, we will be working on three well-known
anthems – J. S. Bach’s Jesu, joy of man’s desiring, Mozart’s Ave verum corpus and Mendelssohn’s
Hear my prayer – plus a short but extremely effective setting of Laurence Binyon’s For the Fallen by
Douglas Guest. The day will end with a informal performance for friends and family at 3.15pm (not
3pm as previously advertised), with everyone invited to join in with the Hallelujah Chorus!

Details of The Dorian Singer’s forthcoming concerts, including their complete
performance of Messiah on Saturday 8 December at St Andrew’s Church, Felixstowe,
may be found on the choir’s website at:  www.thedoriansingers.org.uk,
and also on their Facebook page:  www.facebook.com/doriansfelixstowe.
