The Halas & Batchelor Animation Studio

John Halas, the Hungarian-Jewish émigré, became the father of British Animation. He produced more than 2,000 films between 1938 and 1995 and launched the careers of hundreds of British animators. The studio he founded along with his wife Joy Batchelor made Animal Farm in 1954, Britain’s first animated feature film and for over 50 years, was the largest and most influential animation studio in Western Europe. This talk by their daughter Vivien features some of the best short animation films from the Halas & Batchelor Studio which has been called the British Disney.
