Welcome to the March edition of images. Time to abandon the wintry life of a couch potato and get up and out to see what’s going on! Participation in the arts has been proved to be good for both our physical and mental health, so it could be beneficial to see what there is to fancy, especially if we’re having trouble shaking off the February blues.

We’re all pretty professional photographers now, aren’t we? With our smart cameras and editing software programmes, we can all produce fantastic award-winning images, can’t we? Well, the answer to that, for most of us, is a resounding ‘no’, as can be seen when we look at the wonderful photos that Ipswich and District Photographic Society have sent to images by way of introduction to their upcoming annual exhibition. The Society moves its exhibition for the first time from the Robert Cross Hall to next door – the Council Chamber in the Town Hall, and they would welcome your support – you are in for a treat.

Unbelievably, this month sees us moving towards Easter, and as always the music groups of Suffolk are busy rehearsing their spring concerts. If you look at the listings column of this website, you will be truly spoiled for choice if you love classical music. In fact, there are so many concerts on throughout the county on one Saturday at the end of the month that it will break you heart (in the best possible way) to have to choose. Let’s hope all these concerts get good audiences, because although most of them are to be put on by so-called amateur groups, they will be polished and exciting performances. Just a fraction of these events gets a mention in images, where information has been sent to me – don’t forget to send detailed information if you would like your event to feature here.

Also inside – visual arts, what’s new on CD, where to hear poetry or go to a play. We have a dynamic and rich cultural scene around here. Enjoy it!.
