Welcome to Ipswich Arts Association
The IAA has been in existence for more than 20 years and consists of well over 40 organisations committed to the arts in Ipswich and the surrounding communities. It acts as a support and contact point for members, and as a liaison between members and statutory bodies including Ipswich Borough Council and Suffolk County Council.

The IAA also acts as a focus for campaigning on issues relating to arts facilities. It provides help in presenting arts events, and is a means of bringing to the attention of the public the activities of a wide range of groups involved in music, drama, visual arts, film and photography, spoken word and dance.

Member organisations are entitled to take advantage of the following:

  • Publicity on the IAA website, which lists events up to two years in advance, thus avoiding duplication of dates and programmes.

  • Free publicity in ‘Arts Scene’, published weekly in the Ipswich Evening Star.

  • Advertising events in the IAA display window at the Corn Exchange.

  • For Borough members (see below) discount for hiring Council premises, such as the Corn Exchange.

  • Concessionary tickets for specific concerts and other arts events.

  • Attendance at the twice-yearly General Meetings and Annual General Meeting of the Association. These meetings include talks by a range of guest speakers.

  • Invitation to participate in events organised by IAA.
IAA welcomes as members, organisations from both Ipswich and Suffolk. There is an annual membership fee that varies according to one of the following categories of membership.

Borough Membership is for groups based within the Ipswich boundary. These are classified as Large (80 members or more) or Small (fewer than 80 members).

Out of Borough membership is for groups based outside the Ipswich Borough boundary. (It may be possible for groups in this category to apply for reductions in hiring Council premises).


Fees are reviewed annually and cover the period 1st November to 31st October.
The current fees are:
Borough Large £45.00 Out of Borough £17.00
Borough Small £32.00
